New Implementation Supports

Please visit the implementation assistance page for updated training videos and handouts, as well as an organized series of new forms, tips, protocols, and data sheets for implementing the Practical Functional Assessment (PFA) and Skill-Based Treatment (SBT) processes. You will also find an updated list of relevant peer-reviewed publications from various research and practice groups.

These materials should be helpful for practitioners to implement the assessment and treatment processes emphasized on this website. There are, however, three other sources of support that you should consider to become develop and refine your skills relevant to these processes.

The first is to build a community of support. These communities are usually populated by practitioners from your school or organization, your region, or perhaps from your country. In these communities there are leading voices who have successfully implemented the PFA and SBT processes and who are willing and interested in sharing their experiences with others who more recently learned of the processes and are now  motivated to implement the PFA and SBT processes with the children and clients they serve. These groups sometimes form within organizations as weekly meetings in which process, progress, and obstacles are reviewed. These groups are also sometimes formed on social media (e.g., the Facebook group “BCBAs using the IISCA” formed by Kirsty Louise Keyburn and Michelle Crossway).  New members of these communities should consider attending a sponsored training or view the updated training videos and read some of the recent publications prior to requesting support implementing the process from members of their community.

The second is that a free hotline will be available starting in mid January of 2019. Experts in these processes will be available for a total of 5 hours per week to answer questions about the PFA and SBT process.  The hotline number will be posted on this website in January of 2019.
